“ Food was flavourful although bun for the burger and bread with the soup were both stale. Think the staff forgot our order as it took the food 45 minutes to arrive. Good selection of beers. ”
“ A good pub in Tromso near the harbour. Very friendly staff. You pick your table, order food at the counter and they'll serve it. Good norwegian options like stews, soups and more. We had whale stew (to try as we never had whale meat) and Stockfish soup (Tomato based with dried cod fish) both served with bread and butter on the side. The butter was very fluffy. Both dishes were good (liked the soup better). Whale meat is quite unique and soft (maybe the cooking process of stew). Tasted very nice. The lingonberry sauce complement it very well. The mashed potato served with whale stew was quite dry (not the soft buttery type we usually have, so that was a disappointment). Rest all were good, thank you. We were down with cold, so dint had any drinks and cannot comment on it. The place was full but not loud. Loved the ambience. ”
“ Lovely food and experience. This place was near our hotel.and we just walked in for dinner, the gratinated shrimp is one of the bests shrimp starters I've ever had. The garlic juices were perfect for soaking in some bread. The salmon main was OK tasted like salmon , all the trimmings that came with it though made it pleasing to the eye and all went well together, was a nice decent portion too. The pollock dish was ok too. Very fishy....according to my partner . But reasonably tasty and the olives in it gave it a nice flavour. The service was lovely, you have an area to hang your coat at the entrance....we did wonder what happens if someone took your coat (by accident or not)...this is not weather to go out without a coat.... I tried the first cocktail on the menu....something skaal, unfortunately I forgot the name. It was a very small amount...but it was nice and strong...really could've done with a but more in the glass. All in all a lively experience in Tromso and I would recommend them. ”
“ Had the fish soup, reindeer burger and stock fish stew. The food was great and the service was great. The burger was juicy and yummy. We wanted to order drinks, the waitress was so helpful, she introduced the local drinks and gave great recommendations. She even gave us tasting samples so we can choose a drink we would enjoy. Highly recommend!!! ”
“ We had an unforgettable dining experience at Skarven Kro in Tromsø. The restaurant's prime location allowed us to enjoy the enchanting snowfall through the windows, adding a magical touch to our evening. We started with the Garlic Gratinated Shrimps from Lyngen and the Loaded Potato Skins — both were super tasty. For the mains, we had the Grilled Sirloin of Reindeer, the Minke Whale, the Surf and Turf, the Clipfish of Pollock, and the Norwegian Salmon (Laks). Everything was delicious, and we loved that there were so many traditional Norwegian dishes on the menu — exactly what we were hoping to try. The portions were great, and the quality and presentation really stood out. We'd definitely come back! ”
“ It took me ages to find a place where I could have a drink in nice atmosphere and food I wanted to try. The choice was perfect and it wasn't awfully overpriced for Tromso! The place wasn't very busy which was a bonus, good selection of beers and absolutely delicious reindeer burger with sour cream and cranberries (23e). The staff was absolutely wonderful and overall it was a great choice:)) ”
“ We came here wanting to try out some Norwegian dishes — we really enjoyed them! My favorite was the lamb, which was well cooked and had great flavor. We also got a fish stew, reindeer burger, and whale, which were good as well. All the portions were large. Note this is a bit of a mix between a bar and a restaurant, so the menu is somewhat limited. You can grab an open table and order at the counter. ”
